Medical Cannabis Advocacy Organization Celebrates 20 Years of Advocacy
WASHINGTON, DC — On December 12-14, 2022, Americans for Safe Access (ASA) will hold its 10th annual National Medical Cannabis Unity conference. This year the conference is once again hosted online, allowing for a broader audience, and will occur from 5-8 pm ET / 2-5 pm PT for three nights in a row. For the last 9 years, ASA has brought together medical cannabis patients, caregivers, veterans, advocates, medical professionals, industry business leaders, health care providers, researchers, legal and regulatory experts, industry representatives to talk about the most important issues regarding medical cannabis access for patients.
This year’s Unity Conference theme coincides with ASA’s 20th anniversary. Panels for the conference focus on the theme “Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow” and will talk about How Advocates Helped Change the Conversation of Medical Cannabis, What’s Working for Patients, Current Challenges faced by the Medical Cannabis Marketplace and Patients, and The World We Envision, Safe and Affordable Access for All. Presentations also include a special “20 Years of Advocacy” review by ASA President and Founder, Steph Sherer. As well as a look at ASA’s upcoming 2022 State of the States report and Contaminants report.
Wednesday the conference will conclude with a look at ASA’s new Federal Legislation Briefing: The Cannabis Patient Equity Act and a session on “Reclaiming Patients Role in Cannabis Policy: A Campaign to Pass Federal Legislation”. Each session concludes with 30 minutes of live Q&A with the presenters.
As in every Unity conference, participants will leave with the knowledge they need to advocate for better medical cannabis policies at the state and federal levels.

ASA will not stop advocating until all patients, no matter what condition they have or what state they live in, have legal, safe and affordable access.”
“We get many accolades at ASA for how far we have moved the stone up the mountain for cannabis policy, and I am proud of the work we have done,” said Steph Sherer, founder and president of Americans for Safe Access. “I am always surprised when people ask me “what’s next” as if we have already achieved our mission. I always want to respond, our name isn’t “Privileged Americans for Safe Access” because if we were to stop today, that would be what we have accomplished, worthy for those we have helped but far short of our mission.
